It’s been years since Allen Wright first stepped through the doors of The Children’s Center Rehabilitation Hospital. He was just touring the facility, but the experience opened his eyes to the corners of our community filled with those who have needs.
Although Allen and his wife, Jacque, were young and didn’t have a lot to give at the time, they found a way to make a greater impact by giving to endowment funds at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Not only were their gifts perpetuated through investment, but by giving to organizations participating in the Kirkpatrick Family Fund match, their charitable dollars were multiplied.
Today, the Wrights have given more than $60,000 to support the endowment funds of a number of area nonprofits, including The Children’s Center. But thanks to the power of endowment, the long-term charitable impact of those dollars is much greater.
“We have a real passion for helping those who can’t help themselves,” said Allen. “Whether its animals, children, young boys or young men – our philanthropy is fueled by our desire to make a difference for them and our community.”
In 2019, endowments administered by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation returned more than $9 million to 370 charities serving central Oklahoma. This annual source of funding provides long-term support for local charities, helping ensure their vital programs and services will continue to benefit our community for years to come.
