Oklahoma Palliative Care Resource Center

The center serves as the interdisciplinary source of information for health providers and consumers in Oklahoma. It was established in 2006 to provide a state-wide resource and structure to serve as a clearinghouse dedicated to providing competent, comprehensive, compassionate palliative and end-of-life care accessible to all Oklahomans. The center is part of the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine’s Department of Family & Preventive Medicine. The Sooner Palliative Care Institute

The Sooner Palliative Care Institute is a university based interdisciplinary research and education institute that focuses on making significant contributions to the science of palliative care. The American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (www.aahpm.org)

This is a professional organization for physicians specializing in hospice and palliative medicine. Membership is also open to nurses and other health care providers who are committed to improving the quality of life of patients and families facing life-threatening or serious conditions. The organization is dedicated to expanding access of patients and families to high quality palliative care, and advancing the discipline of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, through professional education and training, development of a specialist workforce, support for clinical practice standards, research and public policy.


National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (www.nhpco.org)

This is the oldest and largest nonprofit membership organization representing hospice and palliative care programs and professionals in the United States. The organization is committed to improving end-of-life care and expanding access to hospice care with the goal of profoundly enhancing quality of life for people dying in America and their loved ones.
