The Break O'Day Farm and Metcalfe Museum provide insights into the life and art of nationally recognized western artist, Augusta Corson Meltcalfe. For 78 years, Augusta grew crops, raised cattle and horses, and painted from this location. Augusta's oils, watercolors, drawings and photographs are exhibited in the Metcalfe Museum along wiht contemporary regional artists. Metcalfe's studio, located on the 640 acre farm comprising Metcalfe's 106-year old single-family residence,is open to the public.
The Augusta Metcalfe Student Art Competition, art receptions, summer youth art camp and the Festival of the Farm are annual activities. An art gallery, public restrooms, a conference room and museum shop are on the handicap accessible grounds. The site in on the State and National Register of Historic Places and is a registered Oklahoma Centennial Farm. |
