Area Nonprofits Invited to Apply for Community Grants
Nonprofit organizations from Lawton and the surrounding area are invited to submit grant applications for the Lawton Community Foundation’s Community Grants Program, which supports programs and projects that will improve the quality of life and provide opportunities for citizens to improve themselves and their communities. Applications are due by June 30, 2010, and are available at www.occf.org/lawtoncommunitygrants.
“The Lawton Community Foundation is pleased to offer this opportunity to area qualified non-profit organizations,” says Gene Love, president of the Lawton Community Foundation. “Through this program we hope to continue to respond to the changing needs of our community.”
Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded. The grant request may be for a capital item or program, which can utilize a one-time funding source and the project or program must be started within 12 months of the grant award. Additionally, charitable organizations with endowments at the Lawton Community Foundation may apply for matching grants to help grow their endowment funds. All grant awards will be announced in the fall. The Lawton Community Foundation has awarded more than $460,000 in community grants since 2000.
