Lawton Community Foundation distributes $68,240 to area charitable organizations
The Trustees of the Lawton Community Foundation made distributions of $68,240 for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2011 to 26 nonprofits participating in its Charitable Organization Endowment program on Tuesday, Nov. 15. The distributions were made during the annual Charitable Organization Endowment breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the McCasland Ballroom in the McMahon Centennial Complex at Cameron University.
The Charitable Organization Endowment program allows Lawton area nonprofits to establish a reliable source of income, while also providing a convenient way for donors to make contributions. As of Oct. 15, the program now administers 34 endowments for charitable organizations and scholarship and award endowments.
“These organizations depend upon the annual distributions from their endowments to help them meet the diverse needs of our community,” says Gene Love, president of the Lawton Community Foundation. “We are happy to offer this program to help provide long-term support for area nonprofits.”
The Lawton Community Foundation was established in 1999 to support the charitable interests of the Lawton community and surrounding areas. Since its inception, the organization has invested more than $1.2 million back into the community through scholarships, community grants and annual distributions to charitable organizations.
