| Description |
St. Gregory’s has valued its Benedictine and Catholic heritages throughout its history and today the university is guided by The Common Core Curriculum and also includes courses which represent and examine: Faith and Reason, Creative Expression, Social and Behavioral Science, and Mathematics and Natural Science. From the laying of the cornerstone on the Shawnee campus for the first building in 1913 to the completion of the new Rockwood Center in 2001, St. Gregory’s University is Oklahoma's oldest institution of higher learning. Today it continues its commitment to educating students .Approximately 50 percent of students at St. Gregory’s are Catholic; however the college is open to students of any faith who choose to attend. St. Gregory’s intends that its graduates combine academic excellence and spiritual learning with a commitment to lifelong learning. Students are required to take two theology courses as part of their general credits; these provide not only a theological background of the Bible and Christian faith, but also a perspective into other religious practices. As a college of the church, St. Gregory’s also emphasizes community service. Our curriculum promotes academically relevant activities that serve the needs of the community. |
